The Journal of Rural and Community Development (JRCD) is pleased to announce the release of Volume 9, Issue 4. This is a general issue that includes five papers prepared for a Festschrift for Dr. Bill Reimer, Professor of Sociology at Concordia University and Director of the SSHRC-funded New Rural Economy Project from 1998 to 2007. The concept of the JRCD was conceived at a research workshop of the NRE in May, 2002. All five papers were peer-reviewed through the co-editing efforts of Dr. William Ashton and Dr. Ray Bollman.

We are now producing the first issue of the year (10(1)). Of course, this means we are entering our tenth year of publication.

The JRCD gratefully acknowledges funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) through their 'Aid to Scholarly Publications' programme. We were recently successful in securing renewed SSHRC funding for 2015-2018. This assists us in improving the review and publication process and marketing the JRCD.

The JRCD is published by the Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Brandon University. RDI was established in 1989 as an academic research centre and a leading source of information on issues affecting rural communities in western Canada and elsewhere. The JRCD benefitted with initial funding from the Manitoba Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Development. For more information, please visit:
