The Journal of Rural and Community Development (JRCD) is pleased to announce the release of Volume 7, Issue 4. This is a special issue: Palliative and End-of-Life Services in Rural and Remote Geographies. The Special Issue editors are Mary Ellen Andrews and Judith Kulig. Their editorial introduction provides the context for the issue. Funding for the research was provided by a CIHR ICE grant HOA-80057 titled 'Timely Access and Seamless Transitions in Rural Palliative/End-of-Life Care' through the CIHR Institute of Cancer Research and CIHR Institute of Health Services and Policy Research.

The JRCD acknowledges funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada through their 'Aid to Scholarly Publications' programme. This assists us in improving the review and publication process. Three special issues are in varying stages of production. Thanks to everyone for their support and patience as the JRCD works through growing pains.

The JRCD is published by the Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Brandon University. RDI was established in 1989 as an academic research centre and a leading source of information on issues affecting rural communities in western Canada and elsewhere.
