The Journal of Rural and Community Development (JRCD) is pleased to announce the release of Volume 7, Issue 1. This special issue (Human Services and Remote Indigenous Communities: Making Room for Diversity and Change) was co-edited by Dean Carson and Rhonda Koster. The importance of this topic is illustrated in their guest editorial. The JRCD is excited that the authors and their research include the southern and northern hemispheres. Enjoy.

The JRCD is also pleased to announce that we have received funding from the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada through their 'Aid to Scholarly Publications' programme. This will assist us in improving the review and publication process. Three special issues are in varying stages of production. Thanks to everyone for their support and patience as the JRCD works through growing pains.

The JRCD is published by the Rural Development Institute (RDI) at Brandon University. RDI was established in 1989 as an academic research centre and a leading source of information on issues affecting rural communities in western Canada and elsewhere. The JRCD benefitted with intitial funding from the Manitoba Department of Agriculture, Food and Rural Initiatives. For more information, please visit: http://www2.brandonu.ca/organizations/rdi/.
